Two long awaited apps were finally confirmed for Microsoft’s Windows Phone operating system at Nokia World in Abu Dhabi. Alongside Instagram, the popular short video sharing service, Vine, will also be making its way to the platform in the coming weeks. The announcement followed the launch of the Lumia 1520 which is Nokia’s 6inch device and packs a Full HD display.
The apps will have the same core functionality as on the Android and iOS versions but we’re looking forward to seeing if there are any Windows Phone specific additions. Vine allows users to share short video clips and snippets over social networks and isn’t really meant for long form video content. Developed by Twitter, it has rapidly become a very popular service. The app will join Instagram, Flipboard, Plex and others as Microsoft does its best to flesh out the application ecosystem.
