There is new meaning to the popular “see more” marketing tagline from Nokia, as it aptly applies to thenewly launched Nokia Lumia 1520 and its huge 6 inches of screen real estate. As you can see from the image above, you can literally “see more” of our webpage on that massive screen. It helps that it is full HD resolution too, and finally has that much needed upgrade to the faster Snapdragon 800 SoC. This phone aims to be the jack of all trades and aims to offer everything in a huge screen, which is currently the awkward trend in Smartphones. So, how does it look in real? We have got a complete photo walkthrough of the device, in glorious yellow. Read past the break to take a look at them.

The front of the phone is dominated by the 6 inch full HD IPS screen with Nokia’s own Clear Black coating that massively improves the outdoor visibility of the screen. The blacks are also deep black and a close bonding to the screen ensures that it stays that way even after the display is powered down.

Here you can notice the apparent change in the UI. There is a new column of tiles for larger screens as a part of the Windows Phone 8 GDR3 update and it completely fills up the screen. Not sure if we like it yet, but yeah, it’s out there for you to see. More information at a glance is always better, we guess.

Talking of the software, it is also noted that the Windows Phone version here is the same, but the firmware is new. Nokia calls it the “Lumia Black” which is set to roll out to all the Lumia devices starting next year. Pretty long wait, that. Also, note the chip version here – says 8974, which means – Snapdragon 800. The Lumia 1520 sports the latest and fastest chipset and is finally now on par with the Android phones that have come out, sporting the same.

Part of the new Lumia Black firmware is the Nokia Camera app that combines all the elements of the Nokia pro camera as well as the Nokia Smart Camera into one app.

Another new feature from the GDR3 update is the ability to close apps. You can take a look at all the new features in a walk through we did earlier.

Moving to the top of the device. You have the 3.5mm jack and just that. You can notice the nicely curved fit that looks very similar to the Lumia 720 and the camera hump that looks like the Lumia 925. It’s a combination of design elements Nokia has been foregoing recently, and that’s good.

Over at the bottom you have the micro USB port and hidden somewhere is the primary mic for voice calls.

Over at the right side you have the standard Lumia set of keys for power, volume and the camera shutter button, but thankfully a bit lower on the position.

Over at the other side you have the Nano SIM card tray and the micro SD card slots enclosed in a couple of flaps that can be opened only with a pin.

The back houses the camera, the LED flash, the Nokia branding and the loudspeaker.

The camera is something special. it’s a 1/2.3″ 20.7 MP sensor that can take 16 MP and 5 MP photos at the same time. Has lossless zoom and oversampling with four rich recording mics for directional stereo audio recording in video.
And that concludes the photo gallery of the Lumia 1520. Stay tuned for the video, which will go live on our YouTube channel anytime soon. And stay tuned to the blog for more coverage from the Nokia World show floor.
